MARQUETTE — If the University of Nebraska-Omaha hockey team scores a goal against Northern Michigan University this weekend, expect a fish on the Berry Events Center ice. It’s tradition. And tonight’s and Saturday’s games might be the last chance to see that tradition on display in Marquette. When UN-O joins the Western Collegiate Hockey Association next season, the Mavericks won’t be playing another regular season Central Collegiate Hockey Association game in Marquette. Neither NMU head coach Walt Kyle nor UN-O first-year coach Dean Blais would say the two teams are true rivals, but Kyle admits the series has been fun. “The one thing I can tell you is it’s been a good rivalry between our fans and their fans,” Kyle said. “We have our group of Puckheads that are just great to us, and good followers, and they developed a relationship with the Omaha fans. “It’s been a good rivalry,” he added, “but a friendly rivalr.
