Pruett tops M-PC
A Little of This ’n’ That: Ishpeming’s Mallory Pruett captured the Mid-Peninsula Conference girls basketball scoring title this season. In 14 league games, she notched 244 points for a 17.4 average. Pruett also took the conference free throw crown, making 68 of 90 for 75.6 percent. Rikki Gingras of Iron Mountain claimed the M-PC rebounding title with 50 boards for 10.7 per game; and Toni Hantz of Gwinn sank the most 3-point shots with 23. ? Sticking with basketball, Michigan Tech University senior guard Sarah Stream holds the Huskies’ No. 7 spot in career points. The former Westwood High School standout had scored 1,400 points at Tech heading into Saturday night’s GLIAC tournament game against Northern Michigan University. Stream needs just six assists to claim the school’s all-time assists title. She has 434, with Catherine Rottier (2003-08) and Dawn Zarling (1990-95) sharing the lead with 439.
